The ministry of Railway created a subsidiary of Indian Railways with an envision to create a digital platform for the convenience of travelers when it comes to booking tickets, checking the availability of trains and checking PNR status and thus IRCTC came to be. Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation was created to enhance the experience of traveling and increase tourism in the country. The decision was a good one as IRCTC’s creation saw a good leap in the number of daily passengers, now having almost 13 million passengers every day.
The service provides booking tickets online; now it allows to book tatkal tickets as well, checking PNR status, availability of trains, train schedules, availability of seats and coaches and you can book cabs as well, now that IRCTC has partnered up with Ola.
Although cash on delivery is not available yet, there are several online payments that you can opt for like JIO Money, Ola Money and IRCTC’s own e-wallet where you are allowed to link as many as five banks at a time.
SBI card users have a special advantage as they get special offers and discounts and can earn loyalty points on every transaction. IRCTC has launched its own app called IRCTC Rail Connect which offers you all the services that are made available to you on the website of IRCTC.

If you have a problem with the food being served on the train, you can complain about it directly to the Catering Complaint Monitoring Cell by SCR at 1800-425-5090, 9701370964, 040-27834044 or you can voice your complaints by dialing 1800-111-321 toll-free number provided by the Indian Railways for feedbacks on the quality of food served on the train.
If you have taken issues with the lack of hygiene then you can just send a text CLEAN to 58888 promptly for cleaning your coach.
